On 8th February 2017, a tree planting ceremony took place in Darndale Park. Representatives from Dublin City Council, Darndale Park Renewal Group, Sphere 17, Darndale Belcamp Village Centre and local councillors attended the event. Children from the Jigsaw Centre, Newlife Centre and OLI Junior and Senior School all took part in planting 30 new trees in the park with the help of Dublin City Council and the Gateway 10 – a group working in Darndale Park who have taken huge steps in regenerating the park and reclaiming it for the people of Darndale. Father Ned from Our Lady Immaculate Church carried out a blessing of the trees during the ceremony and some of the children from the senior school read poems to close the event. We would like to take this opportunity to urge everyone to use the park and to take a walk around it to see the progress that has been made over the last 12 months, there is some beautiful wildlife and birds nesting in the park including Brent geese and 2 beautiful swans in the pond. We really are lucky to have such a great amenity in our community and we would like to thank everyone involved in making Darndale Park a clean and safe place for everyone in the community.
